Townhall’s First Studio Album:
featuring garth hudson (of The Band) on accordion

February 15th - Townhall commemorated the release of their first studio album. In a joyous celebration of music, Townhall delivered nothing less than Townhall Music Fansa night to remember for a full house of friends, fans and family. Many left saying it was the best show of Townhall’s entire history.

Later this month, on February 25th, The New Song, Townhall’s first studio album will be released in record stores across the country where it will proudly and sensibly retail for $9.99. This will be the band’s first release since their debut full-length double disc, Live At The Point appeared in September 2001. The album received rave reviews and was added to 103 radio stations from Rutland, VT to Juneau, AK. Not to mention gaining the band a coveted spot on WXPN’s Live At The World Café.

Radio promotion for The New Song has already begun and almost 1000 radio stations (AAA, College and Alternative) have already received their copy of the album. Additionally, the album’s lead track was recently included on the Winter In New England FMQB AAA Sampler along with Ringo Starr, Beth Orton and The Jayhawks. Program director, Bruce Warren at WXPN, 88.5 in Philadelphia recently wrote, “With so much great music coming out of Philly, it's fitting that Townhall is leading the pack. Great songs, great new musical ideas and an infectious reaction from our listeners similar to the "big names" we play. “Confusion” sounds fantastic on the air. It’s as good if not better than many of the new songs we're currently playing.”

A Townhall Music FanThe record was produced and recorded by Ian Cross and Townhall in Bryn Mawr, PA, at the brand new, state-of-the-art Metropolitan Studios, a facility that Cross planned and built himself. Shortly after the completion of the studio, it earned the distinction of being featured on the cover of Mix Magazine, the world’s leading magazine for studio recording.

With Cross’ extensive studio experience as house producer for Ruffhouse Records whose roster included greats such as Lauryn Hill, Cypress Hill & The Fugees, he was able to create the exact sound that Townhall was looking for; it is a warm, organic, song-based album that will bring you back to the sounds of such classics as Bob Marley & The Wailers, The Band, The Meters, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis. After completion of the Townhall project, Cross headed directly to Los Angeles where his first project was with Beyonce Knowles and has subsequently started working with Janet Jackson, Mia and Macy Gray.

Townhall will remain one of the most actively touring bands in the country with a continued dedication to New England, New York, the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions of the country.

They are students of the music that came before, but this highly original and eclectic quintet has undeniably created a sound that’s all their own. Townhall has played with and earned the respect of notable artists such as The Wailers, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Les Claypool, moe., Pete Yorn, G Love, Guided By Voices and The Dixie Hummingbirds among others.
