Robin Cook:
harmful intent

Patricia Cornwell

Since the author is a doctor writing murder mysteries, the characters that succomb to an untimely fate have vivid descriptions of their last living moments.  You will be reading alot of detail on the deaths...if you are squemish, there will be more detail than you could want.  With this in mind, try Harmful Intent, where the lead character is an anethesiologist trying to beat a rap for a murder he didn't commit.  On his search for justice several more bodies will fall...some through murder and some through suicide.  To complicate matters even more the both the police and a bailbondsman is on the trail and a love interest enters to spice things up.  This story is an easy read and trust me, if you already don't like lawyers this will give you something new to ponder!
